WHO ARE THE AGENTS OF ISHQ?

Agents of Ishq is a multi-media project about sex, love and desire. Or, to put it another way, we make cool video, beautiful images and great audio about sex, love and desire in India.

WHY DID WE BECOME THE AGENTS OF ISHQ?

Because we wanted to create many, many positive conversations about, love, sex and desire. We are often asked to speak about moral policing, sexuality, violence. And this is what we have heard in discussions: people want a place to talk about sex and love honestly, without feeling un-cool or ashamed about their confusions.

We began to wonder – where is the good stuff and the helpful stuff about sex for Indians? Didn’t seem to be much. So we decided to make some.

Presto, we became Agents of Ishq!

WHAT DOES AN AGENT OF ISHQ DO?

We wear cooling glasses at midnight on Mondays and white pants on Wednesdays. Er… no. We have no uniform. Actually, we are not into anything uniform. Or telling people what’s good, bad, wrong, normal, abnormal, gross, evil. We are not into telling people what to think or feel. At all. There’s too much of that going around. Instead, we like to make useful tools, fun materials, things to watch, read and explore so that the world (and particularly young Indians) can make up their own minds.

If you have no cooling glasses, what’s so hot about an Agent of Ishq?

Remember your biology teacher who got to a certain chapter, coughed loudly and told the whole class “study this chapter on your own?” And then shouted at everyone when you all giggled. That’s NOT us.

Everything you find on the Agents of Ishq site will be honest, frank and clear as crystal. We like two roses kissing each other as much as the next person but sometimes you have to come out of the flower bushes and talk about nuts and bolts and things that make us nutty. Like safe sex, menstruation, how babies are made, chromosomes, fantasies, consent, violence, respect, agency, ishq.

WHAT VALUE EDUCATION DOES AN AGENT OF ISHQ TRAIN IN?

Did someone ever tell you that when you laugh too much you will cry for sure? We don’t. We believe sex is nice and pleasure is good for you. We believe all sex is love and all love is sex.

SO AGENTS OF ISHQ ARE NOT AFRAID OF ANYTHING?!

We believe in agency, pleasure, safety and mutual consent. But we don’t think ALL conversations about sex should be about abuse, rape, heart-break, caution and fear. We feel other kinds of conversations – kind, loving, open, sex-is-normal ones – might even help some of the conversations about the tough stuff.
