We think of our bodies as blood and bones and flesh and organs. But what else do we have in this world apart from our bodies? Nothing we feel is outside the body – our emotions, our memories, our hurts and scars, and our intelligence; we see social identities projected onto them too, like caste or gender, or prejudices about skin colour and looks or control, through tradition and law.
